Why choose OGG?
OGG is the container; Vorbis is the codec used here. Variable quality is set to 5 rather than a constant bitrate. Check the destination application’s support: some players work better with MP3 or M4A.
Does this really convert the audio?
Yes. The signal is decoded and encoded into the selected format. The tool does not simply change the file extension.
